VIS is adhering to the governor's COVID19 Executive order. Our volunteer opportunities are listed below:
Grocery shopping and delivery - While following the governor's safety guidelines, VIS needs volunteers who are willing to shop from a provided list and deliver the food to the people in need.
Transportation - VIS IS still transporting people to their vital appointments such as Dialysis treatment or blood work.
Phone and/or Card friend - Many of our VIS friends are feeling isolated during this shelter in place and are requesting a weekly phone call or note encouraging them. What a great way to show the love of Christ in a simple way.
Yard Work - Many VIS friends need a variety of yard work done from mowing, yard clean up, weeding, etc. If you love gardening and being outside, please consider volunteering your gifts. Recently one of our friends phoned with this testimony “Volunteer, Mary, came here today to do my yard. She did such a beautiful job. I’m so thankful to have her... She’s a wonderful person. Thank You very much. I meet such wonderful people from you. I love you and God bless you.”
If you are interested, please call Debbie Jones at email@example.com or phone the VIS office at 459-7500.
Furniture Ministry - VIS partners with several agencies in Kent County to fill the furniture requests. If you have access to a vehicle that can transport furniture, a flexible schedule and an ability to lift and deliver furniture to homes in Grand Rapids, we DESPERATELY NEED you! Please contact Tracey at firstname.lastname@example.org
VIS Volunteers - Michigan is currently in Phase 4 of Governor Whitmer's six phase road map plan to reopen. Therefore, VIS Volunteers are encouraged to reach out to their VIS friends using the following standard operating procedures as guidelines.
