LaGrave SERVE Week
Over 100 students and adult leaders from Michigan and several other states spent a week serving individuals and organizations in the Greater Grand Rapids area. The group was split into teams of 5-7 students and 1 adult leader and they did various things such as painting, yard work, laying patio stones, cleaning, organizing, playing games with children and adults, arts and crafts, and many other activities. Volunteers In Service was responsible for connecting groups to many of these projects.
What these young people and adults did truly made a difference. Once such person whose life was impacted was Vicki (whose name has been changed). She moved into a mobile home last summer and the previous owner had put a lot of nail holes in the walls, there were spots that needed patching, and the ceilings needed to be painted. Vicki said she always used to look down a lot, not wanting to look at the walls because they made her feel so sad and depressed. She said, “Now I can look up and have my spirit lifted!” She said having the kids there and seeing the work they did has really boosted her morale and made her feel so much better.
Thank you LaGrave CRC SERVE for living out your faith by serving others in our community!
