We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Duke Gray and Attah Obande to expand our training opportunities to the churches. Both of these men bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and God-given talents to Volunteers In Service and will increase our capacity to equip those in church leadership positions to serve their congregations and communities in meaningful ways.

Attah Obande is a deacon at Madison Square Church, a zealous speaker, professional coach, and business consultant. Attah’s gift is being in tune to people in poverty, and he is passionate about empowering people to transform their lives. His message encourages and challenges individuals to make a positive change towards personal and professional development. Coupled with his drive to spur personal development, Attah has a deep passion for economic development through entrepreneurship.

Attah’s primary area of training with VIS will focus on training financial mentors.

Duke Gray is Vice-Chair of Elders and Chair of the Administrative Committee at Kentwood Christian Church. He helped start the S.H.A.L.O.M. Ministry there, which is an acronym for Service, Humility, Accountability, Love, Obedience, and Mercy. Their mission is to provide service opportunities for their membership, and service to their community. He has been the Director of this ministry since it started and it is through this group that he came to know VIS. He is also a trained Stephen Minster. Duke’s gift is being able to apply scripture as a response to people and their challenges.

Duke’s primary area of training with VIS will focus on deacon training and coaching.

Volunteers In Service is privileged to have these amazing men on our team. We are very excited to see where they will help lead VIS in the future. Please join us in welcoming Duke and Attah to the VIS team!
